We completed the Poon Hill trek from Ulleri to Ghandruk in 3 days which was organised by Hotel Lakeshore in Pokhara. Day 1. We left Pokhara by Jeep at 8.30am with our guide / porter, Nirmal Bikram Bista. We arrived at Upper Ulleri at around 11 am. We avoided climbing up around 3000 steps from Hile to Ulleri, as our jeep took us straight to Upper Ulleri. From Ulleri (2000 m), we walked to Ghorepani (2800m) reached there at 5.30 pm. We walked slowly and had a couple of breaks. The 1st day walk wasn't hard. We stayed at Dhaulagiri Hotel. We had attached bathroom and clean blankets there. Food was good. Day 2. We woke up at 5am and left at 5.15am to see the sunrise at Poon hill (3200m). I struggled to get up there as it was a steep climb from 2800 m to 3200 m High. I had many pauses, walked slowly and eventually reached the top at 7am. It was cloudy and we couldn't see the sunrise. We climbed down, had breakfast and continued our journey to Tdapani. At first we had to climb up to 3200m again to reach Duerali. Then some easy walk followed by a steep down hill and a steep uphill to reach Tadapani. We had a hard time reaching Tadapani, the hardest day out of the 3 days. We stayed in Hotel magnificient which was probably the tallest hotel in Tadapani. But not the greatest. I wouldn't recommend it. Day 3. This is the easiest day. An easy walk for 3 hours to reach the beautiful Ghandruk village. Had lunch and left to Pokhara in our jeep which was waiting for us. It was an amazing experience even though we weren't able to see the sunrise at Poon hill due to the clouds. We had an amazing guide Nirmal Bikram who spoke fluent English, polite, friendly and considerate.
