Spantik peak Climber Reviews

Apricot Tours

via Tripadvisor
We climbed Spantik peak, using Apricot Tours to support us until base camp. From the moment we arrived in Pakistan to the moment we left, Apricot ensured we were being well looked after. Our guide, Sajid, went above and beyond to ensure we were happy. Our cook, Yousuf, and his helpers were incredible - making delicious food for a team with lots of vegetarians. These were of invaluable support in helping us achieve our goal. Thank you Apricot - we would certainly use your company again.
Spantik peak August 2022 1. You told me that August is the best time for this mountain, and that’s not true: regardless of how the monsoon comes, it is the worst month. Optimal date is mid-June to mid-July. That’s fairly relevant when you spend your money and your time in the tents waiting for good weather conditions to climb. 2. Besides, in August, expeditions should not be allowed. With the persistent rains in the area, regardless of the monsoon, there are numerous rock avalanches at Base camp. We suffered one that reached our tents. 3. When we arrive at Skardu, Zeeshan, maybe having second thoughts, said he does not know if there were fixed ropes, not kowing and if there were any groups of mountaineers on the mountain. He tried to sell us hundreds of meters of static rope, but he did not succeed in his attemp. He sold 60m of dynamic rope to two Australians, which eventually measured 40m. The fixed ropes had been installed since June. 4. Two of us were two young Belgians, their only mountain experience is a trekking up a 5,000 m. pass. Before the trip, they sent a photo to Zeeshan of a pair of summer boots without any thermal insulation and totally inappropriate for climbing a 7,000 m. peak. Nevertheless, he told them that their boots suited perfectly to the climb. Two days after arriving at the base camp they had to abandon the expedition. Spantik is not a mountain for beginner mountaineers and your travel agency must advice about this. 5. The base camp is a garbage dump where more trash seems impossible. 6. The traditional tipping system is a miserable way of remuneration that should be avoided by a responsible agency. The companies pay a shameful scarce wage to the porters, so that at the end tipping is a way for these companies to save money. Unfortunately, in spite of my having great expectations of Pakistan, the company behavior added to the lack of care for the environment, made my trip to be a great disappointment, so that I cannot recommend to my mountain club to go to Pakistan as they intended, unless you treat the porters with dignity and take care of the mountain environment. We are not used to walk over landfills, and we, your clients, also want to be treated with respect and professionalism: we are not ATM`s. 7.- In response to your reply: Lying is not a good system of doing business. I will not spend a single minute to answer you.
